What is a Leo Club?

The Belvidere Lions Club is sponsoring a new Leo Club

Leo Clubs are similar to a Lions Club in structure in that it is driven by community service. The difference is that it is operated entirely by student members and acts as a separate club, independent of a Lions Club, though guidance and advisement are available when needed. Leo Clubs are strictly for students between the ages of 12 and 18.
Leo clubs prepare young people for a lifetime of leadership and provide them with an opportunity for development and contribution. Leo will get direction, learn valuable leadership skills and experience team work first hand. They will acquire and develop so many positive character traits, all while helping the less fortunate and strengthening our community.
Being a Leo is fun, valuable and rewarding. Youth who join Leo clubs have fun, build lifelong friendships and experience the rewards of serving others all while building a strong foundation as they learn the meaning of leadership and service. Being a Leo also fulfills school required community service hours, looks great on college applications and above all, it leaves you with the knowledge that YOU made a difference in your community!
Once we get the required number of students signed up, we will hold an informational meeting for Leos and their parents, the Leos will decide when they want to meet, they will choose their board (President, Vice President Secretary and so on), they will meet their Lions advisors and sign the charter paperwork. Once paperwork is complete, there will be a formal induction ceremony.
Lions clubs sponsor approximately 5,800 Leo clubs in 140 countries. Are you ready to make a difference
